Geographical notes
It extends into the Peligna valley, which derives its name from the ancient Italic population of the Peligni, and has as its main center the city of Sulmona. It borders to the west with the Marsica, south with the Molise, to the east with the Frentano-Alto Vastese, north with Vestina ed Aquilano.
