Vestvågøy is a city on the Lofoten, it is located on the island of the same name.

In the commune Vestvågøy around 10,500 people live. It consists of the towns of the island of the same name, the administrative seat is in Leknes. The main industries are fishing, agriculture and tourism. The islands of Gimsøy in the west and Flakstadøy in the east are adjacent to Vestvågøy.

The Lofoten and thus Vestvågøy are located north of the Arctic Circle. From May 26th until July 18th the midnight sun shines, the polar night lasts from December 7th. until 05.01.

In the street

The city of Vestvågøy lies on the E10, it is about 300 km from Narvik away. The 1 Nappstraumentunnel connects them to the neighboring island Flakstadøy, on the island Gimsøya can be reached via the 1 Sundklakkstraumen Bridge.
