William Creek

William Creek is a small settlement in the outback of South Australia. In the last census of 2002 three residents and a dog were counted, which is why the place boasts the smallest settlement Australia to be.

getting there

William Creek is only accessible via gravel roads and is a popular stopover at Oodnadatta Track. The all-wheel-drive track runs from Marree in the south (204 km) to Marla in the north (330 km) parallel to the one further to the west Stuart Highway. There is also a track after Coober Pedy (168 km).

mobility

Williams Creek has a small runway on which the machines of the Royal Flying Doctor Service land and from which the sightseeing flights start. You can also charter a flight from Olympic Dam or Coober Pedy to Williams Creek.

  • the Pub in Williams Creek (founded in 1887), where many people deposit business cards, personal items or items of clothing (underwear) which are then hung up and decorate the interior, a gigantic visitor book
