The Wolfgangsee is approx. 13 km² in size. It is divided into two halves of the lake by the "alluvial cone" of the Zinkenbach (200 meters wide narrow point). Incidentally, the water is 538 meters above sea level and up to 114 meters deep.

- 1 Zwölferhorn A beautiful panorama of the lake opens up from the 1521 m high elevation near St. Gilgen on Wolfgangsee. The 2800 m long Zwölferhornbahn takes you comfortably to the summit. Incidentally, the gondolas of the detachable two-cable gondola each have space for 4 people. If you want, you can of course also hike to the top. - 2 Schafberg: A historical one Steam cog railway leads from St. Wolfgang to the 1,783 m high mountain. From the "Salzkammergut vantage point" you have a beautiful view of some of the region's lakes - including the Wolfgangsee, of course.
- 3 Sheet metal wall: The 1541m high elevation south of the lake between Gschwendt and Strobl can be reached via several hiking trails. The summit is much easier to reach via a toll road from Gschwendt that leads to the Schwarzeneck Alm and Niedergaden Alm. From there, the remaining approx. 300 meters in altitude can be reached via the hiking trails. Both alpine pastures have managed huts. Another is the Bleckwand Hut, which visitors can only reach on foot or by mountain bike.

A detour to the cliff of the Falkenstein is worthwhile. From here you have a beautiful view over the lake. There is also a pretty rock chapel at the edge of the path. From Ried or St. Wolfgang, the return journey can be made by ship respectively.
- Cycling - There is a well-developed network of cycle paths around Lake Wolfgang (and beyond). Many forest roads, for example on the Zwölferhorn, are also open to mountain bikers.
- Summer toboggan runs at Fuschl am See and Strobl, open May - Sept., from the 158Wolfgangseestrasse easy to reach.

Laimeralm - the "Musikalm"
The Laimeralm is located above Strobl and can be accessed by car or bus via a well-developed alpine road, hiking trails lead up and from the terrace of the alp you have a beautiful view of Lake Wolfgang.
The events take place in the alpine hut or on the terrace when the weather is nice. The Laimer family has a long tradition of music. The family has already made numerous appearances on radio and television and has made guest appearances in over 30 countries.
The classic event is the Hüttenzauber or Frühschoppen, which is offered from May to October. The music on offer ranges from traditional folk music to "modern" pieces from rock and pop.
