Yaracuy is one of the federated states Venezuelans of the Northwest Venezuela.
To know
Although this state is rarely included in tourist circuits, it has a rich variety of socio-cultural traditions. The name derives from a valiant indigenous leader of the Guadabacoa population who commanded a vast territory on the banks of the river.
Geographical notes
It borders the State of to the north Falcón, south with the states of Portuguesa is Cojedes to the west with the state of Lara and to the east with the states of Carabobo is Cojedes.
Most of the state is located in the Cordillera Central.
When to go
The climate is mainly tropical except for the mountainous areas where it is temperate.

Urban centers
- San Felipe - Capital of the federated state of Yaracuy, which developed between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries under the name of Cerritos de Cocorote. To King Philip V of Spain, we owe the current name, in honor of its patron saint.
- Chivacoa - City of indigenous origin located on a tributary of the Yaracuy River.
Other destinations
- Montaña de Sorte - This mountain is home to the local cult of Maria Lionza, a historical princess of origin Indiana. His followers come to this area regularly for rituals, including spiritual cleansing and predicting the future by reading cigar ashes. There is a prominent statue of Maria Lionza in the middle of the main street Caracas, which depicts her astride a tapir holding a pelvis bone.

By plane
Yaracuy State can be reached by plane via the airport Subtenant Nestor Arias (or Aeropuerto de Las Flores) located in San Felipe.
By bus
The Terminal de Pasajeros de Independencia is the main bus access point of Yaracuy and is located on Avenida La Patria a San Felipe.
