activities

Beach
Sunbathing on the central beach
Horse riding on the beach
Bike on the beach

The main activities that can be practiced here are sunbathing and swimming.

Horse riding trips on the beach are also popular.

There are also bike paths on the beach. Bicycles can be rented in town.

The beaches around Leba consist of fine white sand and slope very gently into the Baltic Sea, a paradise for children. Walks on the beach, preferably barefoot, are also highly recommended.

The big dune is also worth a trip, it can be reached by boat, on the road with a small train or by bike. The last few meters to climb the dune have to be walked.

shop

The shops in town are limited to daily needs and small souvenirs. As is so often the case on the Baltic Sea, there are many stands with amber in all variations in Łeba. The jewelry offered is inexpensive and a nice souvenir. You should go shopping Koszalin or Slupsk because the choice is significantly larger there.

kitchen

Due to the proximity to the open sea, but also to inland waters, marine and freshwater fish are the main components of the regional cuisine. Since Łeba is still a fishing village, there is fish in all variations. There are several street stalls selling smoked fish. Fresh fish is offered on the fishing boats. Many fish dishes can be found on the menus at reasonable prices.

nightlife

The places to go out are available, but not comparable to those of a big city. Night owls will be after Slupsk or Koszalin drive.

accommodation

There are various types of accommodation in the village, from campsites, simple hotels, guest rooms, guest houses to luxury hotels and spas.

Learn

Among other things, you can get a sailing license in the region.

Work

For German-speaking tourists who are looking for a vacation job in the region, there are opportunities in tourism and gastronomy. However, the payment should not correspond to German conditions.

security

The Baltic coast usually falls flat under water and there are hardly any tides or unpredictable currents. The Jarmunder See is also shallow. Bathing is therefore generally safe for families with children and swimming accidents are rare. When swimming accidents do occur, excessive alcohol or drug consumption is usually involved. However, if you follow the general bathing rules and do not go into the water when the waves are high, you have little to fear.

health

If you are legally insured in Germany or Austria, you can get medical treatment in Poland without any problems and the costs will then be reimbursed / covered by your own health insurance. Basically you need the European health card EHIC for this. If you travel to Poland for (dental) treatment, the assumption of costs should be clarified with the German / Austrian health insurance company in advance.

The supply of pharmacies is quite good and many medicines are cheaper in Poland than in Germany. Prescription drugs can only be obtained upon presentation of a doctor's prescription. It is best to clarify in advance whether the desired drugs require a prescription in Poland and to get a prescription from a Polish doctor in advance.

Doctors and pharmacists in Poland usually speak English very well, and some also speak German. You can find out which doctors or pharmacists speak German at the local chamber of doctors or pharmacists.

climate

In the region there is a transitional climate between maritime and continental climates. The amount of precipitation is lower and the temperature fluctuations higher (warmer summers, colder winters) than on comparable coasts in Western Europe.

Practical advice

There are many exchange offices in Łeba. You should use the in Koszalin or Slupsk, as the exchange rate is usually better than in Ustka. Cash can also be obtained from ATMs.
