The 19 km long and up to 4.9 km wide island is located south of Split between the island Brač in the east and the island of Drvenik Veli in the west.

From Germany and Austria via the Tauern Autobahn, Villach, the Karawanken tunnel or via the Pyhrnautobahn Ljubljana or Maribor, continue over Zagreb on the Croatian A 1 motorway to exit 25 Dugopolje, from there continue on the expressway to Split. From Split, the ferry goes four to six times a day to Rogač on the island of Šolta. Alternatively, but much slower to Split on the Adriatic highway. From Switzerland you can travel via Verona and Trieste to Rijeka be cheaper.
