Andrychów (German: Heinrichau) is a place in Poland in the southern voivodeship Lesser Poland near Krakow between Little Beskids and the Silesian promontory. It is best known as the gateway to the Little Beskids for mountain bikers.

background

The city dates from the 13th century and from 1315 belonged to the Duchy of Auschwitz and after its division in 1445 to the Duchy of Zator. In 1767 the place received city rights. With the First Partition of Poland in 1772 he came to the Habsburg kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria, which remained until the First World War. After the First World War, the city became Polish again. After the German invasion of Poland, the place was directly incorporated into the Third Reich. In 1945 he came back to Poland.
