Bad Herrenalb is a small spa town in Northern Black Forest, it lies in the valley of the Alb.

In 1149 a Cistercian monastery was founded in the Alb valley, in the vicinity of which the village of Herrenalb was established. From 1841 the first cures in one were here Cold water sanatorium carried out. The first spa center was built in 1891. Climatic health resort Herrenalb has been since 1954. After mineral water was found in 1971 while drilling, the place was given the coveted addition to its name bath. The following year the localities were Rotensol and New set incorporated three years later Bernbach the youngest part of the city.

Bad Herrenalb is also known as the “Siebentälerstadt”. They are: upper Albtal, Rotenbachtal, Gaistal, Rennbachtal, Dobeltal, Bernbacher Tal and lower Albtal.

Neighboring municipalities are Chub, Gernsbach, Loffenau, Gaggenau and Marxzell

Bad Herrenalb is the end point of the Alb Valley Railway, the line S1 drives from Karlsruhe above Ettlingen to Bad Herrenalb, stations are 1 Kullenmühle and 2 Herrenalb train station .

In the street

Although Herrenalb lies at the intersection of seven valleys, there are relatively few good access options:

  • the main street is the L564, it goes from Ettlingen through the Alb valley and continues west from Bad Herrenalb Gernsbach ins Murgtal
  • another connection is the L340, from it one arrives over Chub to the Enztal Neuenbürg and Bad Wildbad.
