Bad Wurzach is the oldest mud spa in Baden-Wuerttemberg. The city is in Württemberg Allgäu at the raised bog area Wurzacher Ried. Its location on the is of tourist interest Swabian Baths Road and at the Upper Swabian Baroque Street. .

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1273. Wurzach has had city rights since 1333. During the Thirty Years War, the population fell to only 19 in 1637. In 1806 Wurzach came to Württemberg. The first mud baths were administered in 1936. the title bath received Wurzach in 1950. Since the municipality reform in 1972, the formerly independent villages Arnach, Dietmanns, Eintürnen, Gospoldshofen, Haidgau, Hauerz, Seibranz, Unterschwarzach, Wengenreute, Ziegelbach and numerous other hamlets and farms belong to Wurzach.

The 1 Bad Wurzach train station is on the Roßbergbahn, a side line of the Allgäubahn. Passenger trains (Radexpress Oberschwaben) only run on Sundays and public holidays in the summer months. The next train stations are in Bad Waldsee, Biberach an der Riss and Leutkirch in the Allgäu.
