Bergen is also called the city between the seven mountains (the syv fjell). One of the mountains from which the city owes its name is Fløyen. From here there is a good view over the city. To get to the top you can use a funicular: Fløibanen. The highest of the seven mountains is Ulriken.

Bryggen, the medieval administrative and trading center and core of Bergen, is located on Vågen Bay and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Bergen-Flesland Airport (Norwegian: Bergen Lufthavn Flesland) (IATA: BGO, ICAO: ENBR) is the airport of Bergen. The airport is 19 kilometers from the city center. It is Norway's second largest airport and handled 4,852,740 passengers (2007). The original terminal has been converted into a heliport, mainly for flights to oil rigs in the North Sea.

By train

It Bergen Station (Norwegian: mountains stasjon) is the main station of the city. It is a so-called "end station" (a station with only dead ends) and thus a terminus for all arriving lines.

Bergen Railways - The railway between Bergen and Oslo, is the highest main railway line in Europe. It crosses the Hardangervidda plateau which reaches heights of more than 1200 meters above sea level.

By car

The city is located on the E39 which leads south to the Danish Aalborg runs and in a northerly direction until Trondheim.

By bus
