Western Burma is a region of the Burma.

Territories and tourist destinations
- Chin state - A small state on the border withIndia, the visit of which is closed to individual tourists. Some permits are issued in groups but only with the dropper.
- Rakhine state (Arakan state) - With a long coastline on the Bay of Bengal, the state of Rakhine has places of some interest such as the archaeological site of Mrauk U and Ngapali beach (Ngapali Beach), a golden beach surrounded by modest but salty hotels.
Urban centers
- Sittwe (Akyab) - Capital of Rakhine state.
- Thandwe - Also called Sandoway by the British, it is the city with the most important port in southern Burma.
Other destinations
- Mrauk U - Important Burmese archaeological site located in the north of Rakhine State.
- Ngapali Beach - Beach located 7 km from Thandwe.
How to get
By plane
The easiest way to reach Rakhine State is to fly from Yangon to Sittwe. All domestic flight schedules can undergo substantial variations, therefore in planning your travels it is always advisable to consider adequate time for travel and connections.
How to get around
Rent a boat with a private guide along the Kaladan River to get up to Mrauk U and besides it is not too expensive and makes the trip very interesting. Note that from autumn 2008 boats cannot leave after 11:00 due to possible dangers on the river, so if you are forced to stay in the area after sunset, you will be able to spend the night in Sittwe.
