Bocholt is a city in the western Münsterland. It is located in the northwest of the state North Rhine-Westphalia and is a parish of the district Bark in the administrative district Muenster. It has about 70,000 inhabitants.

The Westphalian city is a border town in two respects: to the Netherlands and Lower Rhine.
The city is divided into different parts of the city:
- Barlo, Biemenhorst, Hemden, Holtwick, Liedern, Lowick, Mussum, Spork, Stenern and Suderwick.
There are several districts in the inner-city area:
- Bocholt-West, Fildeken, Giethorst, Hochfeld, Hohenhorst, Löverick and Rosenberg

Can be reached 1 Bocholt train station with the regional train RB 32 "Der Bocholter" (Wesel - Bocholt), which runs every hour. In Wesel connection to the Rheinschiene trains, e.g. the Rheinexpress RE 5.

There is a city bus network with 12 bus routes that meet every half hour at the bus meeting point (Europaplatz) as a rendezvous. (Single ticket € 2.00), information and tickets (multi-trip and group tickets) in the StadtBus-Center at the bus meeting point or on the bus. In the evenings and outside of business hours, collective call taxis (AST) operate. Register at least 30 minutes before the journey via tel. 0800-2191920.

The Parking facilities are limited, there are some parking garages in the city center, in some cases shops replace part of the parking costs. Particular caution is required in areas that are only reserved for residents. Parking violations are particularly expensive there.
Tourist Attractions
Nearly eighty percent of the city was destroyed at the end of the last war. Therefore there are relatively few historical buildings. The reconstruction was carried out on the old floor plan.
In summer there are public city tours from the market square, mostly on Saturdays from 10 a.m. (dates in the Tourist info).
The western part of Suderwick, more of a village, is directly adjacent to the Dutch village Dinxperlo. The state border is partially marked on the pavement and on the street.
Churches
1 St. George Church. A late Gothic hall construction, built 1415-86.
2 Church of Our Lady. Also in the city center, arose from a former monastery church of the Minorites in late Baroque style 1785-92. It was expanded to its current size in 1912-13.

Buildings
- 4 town hall built from 1618-24 in the style of the Dutch Renaissance. In the past it housed the administration of the city, today the registry office and a hall for cultural events are located in the building. There is an ice cream parlor on the ground floor, with outdoor catering under the town hall arcades. A weekly market takes place several days a week.
- 1 City library The neat old station building houses the city's media center (primarily the city library).

- 6 Art house, Osterstrasse 69, 46397 Bocholt. The art house opposite the city museum is dedicated to the fine arts and organizes around 10 changing exhibitions every year.
- 7 Textile museum. In the textile museum, the centuries-old history of the local textile industry comes to life in an exciting way. A guided tour through the museum gives an insight into the world of weaving and spinning mills, which shaped life in Bocholt for a long time, also into the everyday life of the people of that time.
- 8 Craft Museum, Köcherstraße 4, 46395 Bocholt. The handicraft museum exhibits handicrafts.

Bocholt autumn fair, the annual folk festival that takes place on the 3rd weekend in October is known far beyond the city limits and is the largest folk festival on the Lower Rhine and in western Münsterland.

A restaurant with high-quality cuisine cannot be found in Bocholt. You have to go into the surrounding area to experience top cuisine. However, there are a number of restaurants where you can eat quite well. In recent years, a gastronomic scene with different offers has settled around the Gasthausplatz. Another focus is on Arcades, the shopping center in the south of the city center, Ravardistraße continues as a bar mile.

Bocholt is right on the German-Dutch border, so you can quickly visit the double village Suderwick (Germany) / Dinxperlo (Netherlands). Aalten to the east is comparable to Dinxperlo. Bocholt is also not far from the regions Lower Rhine and Ruhr area.
