Ciężkowice is a Begort in Poland in the southern voivodeship Lesser Poland southeast of Krakow in the Ciężkowice Mountains, a promontory of Beskydy Mountains, at the Biała.

background

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1125 and was officially founded in 1288. In 1348 the place received city rights as a royal city. The brick-Gothic parish church of St. Andrew also dates from this period. Numerous trade routes from Krakow to the south crossed here. With the First Partition of Poland in 1772, the place came to the Habsburg kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria, where it stayed until the First World War. After the First World War, the city became Polish again. After the German invasion of Poland, the place was occupied by the Germans. In 1945 he came back to Poland.
