Tourist Attractions

Map of Clemensberg
  • 1 Lookout point with summit cross on the "New Clemensberg" - From the 837 m high hill on the edge of the quarry you have a beautiful southwest view over the Rothaar Mountains Winterberg With Bare branches. Why "New Clemesnberg". Quite simple: The 839 m high summit of the original Clemensberg was "dismantled" in the quarry. According to the Openstreetmap, the old summit was about 500 m to the east in what is now the northeast corner of the quarry.
By the way, there are benches at the summit cross, but no refuge. If there is a risk of thunderstorms, however, you can probably find shelter in the iron demolition shelter, which is just below the lookout point (space for about 4 people standing close together). It is not known to what extent the equipotential bonding is guaranteed in the ground.
  • 1 Hochheide "New Hagen" . This nature reserve is particularly worth visiting in August when the heather is in bloom.
  • 2 Hoppeckequelle - No sight on the roadside coming from Ettelsberg.

  • Walks and hikes:
-High-altitude hike to the Ettelsberg: The slightly hilly route leads to the mountain on roads suitable for pushchairs. On the way you pass two rest areas (each equipped with tables, benches and shelters). On the Ettelsberg the Hochheideturm can be climbed and there is a stop at the Ettelsberghütte. The length of the route is around 4 km one way. If you arrive via Willingen, it is best to walk this route to Clemensberg.

Clemensberg from the air from the south. The quarry lies like a huge scar in the landscape. The nature reserve of the new Hagen with the "New Clemensberg" is worth seeing despite this change in landscape. On the ground in the middle of the Hocheide, the quarry does not fall.

At the edge of the quarry there are cast-iron shelters that can or should be sought out during blasting.
