The Costa Cálida is the Mediterranean coast of the spanishRegion of Murcia, it extends over a length of around 200 km between the Costa Blanca and the Costa de Almeria. Her name is of tourist origin and means Hot coast.
Regions
- Mar Menor: Between San Pedro del Pinatar and the Cabo de Palos there is a 170 km² salt water lagoon, called Mar Menor. It is separated from the Mediterranean by the 24 km long spit La Manga. The lagoon is well suited for water sports such as kayaking, which is why numerous tourist businesses have settled on its coast. They also advertise the therapeutic effects of the water, which has a higher salt content than the Mediterranean.
- In the coastal strip between Mazzarón and Àguilas numerous castles and fortifications have been preserved, the coast is often steep and rocky, shipwrecks and underwater caves offer good diving opportunities.
- In the vicinity of the city of Cartagena, the focus is on historical buildings, they come from the Punic and Roman times and from the Middle Ages.
