Cremona is a city of Lombardy.

To know

Crossed by the Po that flows on the outskirts, it is the city of nougat and Torrazzo, the highest bell tower in Italy.

Known throughout the world for its luthier shops as well as for various local gastronomy products such as nougat and Cremonese mustard, Cremona was one of the richest and most powerful medieval towns, a historical opponent of Milan. The main historical buildings, medieval Romanesque and Gothic monuments, are concentrated in the Piazza del Comune: the Romanesque Duomo, the 13th century Torrazzo symbol of the city, the Gothic Baptistery, the Loggia dei Militi and the town hall make this square a monumental complex of great historical and artistic interest.

In 2017 Cremona and its province are part of the "European Region of Gastronomy-Eastern Lombardy", together with provinces of Mantua, Bergamo is Brescia.

Background

The ancient one passed through Cremona via Postumia, which connected Genoa to Aquileia.
