Department of Cauca is an administrative division of the region Colombian of the Pacific.

Geographical notes
The department of Cauca overlooks thePacific Ocean to the west, it borders the departments of Tolima is Cauca Valley to the north, with Huila is Caquetá to the east and with Nariño is Putumayo South.
The territory consists of a coastal plain crossed by the San Juan de Micay River to which it follows to the east Western Cordillera. Continuing east past the Pubenza valley, where the capital is located Popayán, extends the Central Cordillera which reaches 5,750 meters in Nevado del Huila in the north-eastern sector of Cauca.
The island of Gorgona, declared a national park, is part of the Cauca department.
