Danube (not M. Donau, hungary Duna, rum. Dunărea) - the second longest river in Europe. The length of the Danube is 2,888 km, and its source is in the Black Forest mountains, in the town of Furtwangen, and its mouth is in Romania. The river flows through a total of 10 European countries: Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova and Ukraine.

The Danube is one of the greatest tourist attractions in Central and Eastern Europe. For centuries, this river was an important communication route and a border between different countries. It has as many as four capitals, as well as many smaller and interesting cities. Most of the area surrounding the Danube is mountains and highlands, and the only depressions are the Hungarian Plain and the Wallachian Plain.

Tourism

Regular tourist cruises are also organized on the Danube. Apart from the most crowded section Vienna - Budapest, individual ships sail from Passau to the Danube Delta. In the high season, there are over 70 ships on the river that make regular passenger cruises.
