EuroVelo 6 (EV6) is a cycle route going from Saint Nazaire in France To Constanta in Romania. This route, along 3 653 km, crosses 10 countries.

Steps

Section 1: the Loire by bike

Cooperation between the Pays de la Loire and Center regions aiming at the implementation of a cycle route along the Loire began in 1995. The department of Cher officially launched into the project on . A first section going from Belleville-sur-Loire to Couargues was inaugurated in 2008 in the Cher then a second in 2010 between Couargues and Marseilles-les-Aubigny, the section taking the levee of the Loire and connecting the municipalities of Sandillon and Châteauneuf- sur-Loire was inaugurated on . The work to open the last sections of the route is now complete.

Over the entire route, two thirds of the axes are directly on the banks of the Loire. The vast majority of the route is free of automobile traffic.
