background

The area around Geislingen was already settled in Roman times, as evidenced by the former Roman fort located southwest of the town. The place is probably an Alemannic foundation. In the Middle Ages he belonged to the rule of Lords of Bubenhofenwho had the castle built in 1426. In 1762 it came into the possession of the Barons von Stauffenberg through inheritance. In 1805 Geislingen became part of Württemberg.

After the formerly independent neighboring towns of Erlaheim and Binsdorf were incorporated, Geislingen received city rights in 1974.

Neighboring communities are Haigerloch, Balingen, Dormettingen, Dautmergen and Rose field.
