Sulz am Neckar is a small town in Korngäu on the upper reaches of the Neckar. It lies between that Middle Alb foreland in the east and that Middle Black Forest in the West.

The name Sulz refers to the brine springs, which played an important role in the history of the place for many years. Sulz was first mentioned in a document in 790, in 1284 the place received city rights, around 1500 Sulz became part of Württemberg. When around 1800 the Salt springs on the stove were discovered, Sulz lost its importance.

After the Second World War, the city districts emerged Sulz-Schillerhöhe left of the Neckar and Sulz fort On the right side. Around 1975 the formerly independent villages Bergfelden, Dürrenmettstetten, Fischingen, Glatt, Holzhausen, Hopfau, Mühlheim, Renfrizhausen and Sigmarswangen were incorporated.
