The Southwestern Alb foreland is in the in the region Neckar-Alb, which is formed from the three districts of Reutlingen, Tübingen and Zollern-Alb-Kreis. It's between that Neckar and the heights of Swabian Alb in the German federal state Baden-Wuerttemberg.
Regions
The Neckar flows with its lower course from the source to the Baar to the northeast. On his right side lie with the Großer Heuberg and the Zollernalb the highest mountains in the Swabian Alb, rising steeply from the foreland on the Albtrauf. In between lies the southwestern foothills of the Alb, it extends roughly from Rottweil until after Tubingen and Reutlingen. In addition to some witness mountains, the wooded ridges of the Kleiner Heuberg and the Rammert protrude from the mostly open landscape in the valley. To the east it connects to that Middle Alb foreland. Geologically, the areas north of the Kleiner Heuberg around Haigerloch and Rangendingen are partially Upper Gäu assigned.
