Gundelfingen on the Danube is a city on the left bank of the Danube, it is located in North Swabia in the BavarianAdministrative region of Swabia. Gundelfingen is the seat of the administrative community of the same name, to which the villages of Bächingen an der Brenz, Haunsheim and Medlingen belong.

A first documented mention comes from around 750 AD. The town developed into a castle town under the rule of the Hohenstaufen and received town charter around 1200. After the death of the Hohenstaufen Konradin in 1268 the Wittelsbach family took over the rule. In 1808 Gundelfingen came to the Kingdom of Bavaria. In 1876 the city was connected to the Danube Valley Railway. In 1978 the previously independent communities Echenbrunn and Peterswörth were incorporated.
