Upper Palatinate - historical land in the south Germany, today a district (German Bezirk) and a regency in the federal state Bavaria. The capital of the Upper Palatinate is Regensburgand other major cities are Weiden in der Oberpfalz and Amberg. The Regen River flows through the Upper Palatinate. The Bavarian Forest (Bayerischer Wald) and the Bohemian Forest (Oberpfälzer Wald).
