Neumarkt is on the railway line Nuremberg – regensburg. Regional trains run to the station every hour, and intercity trains also stop.

By boat

Shipping traffic on the Ludwig Canal was discontinued after 1945. The 1992 opened Main-Danube Canal runs around 15 km south of Neumarkt, landing stage in Berching, accessible via federal highway 299.

Neumarkt still has three local breweries (Gansbräu, Glossner and Lamb brew). A local specialty are the (here relatively large) sausages, (fried) with cabbage or in vinegar with onions as "sour tips".
