Upper Palatinate Jura - Oberpfälzer Jura

Upper Palatinate Jura or Bavarian Jura is the name for the one in the Upper Palatinate located part of the Franconian Alb.

Regions

The area roughly includes the western part of the Amberg-Sulzbach district, the Neumarkt district in the Upper Palatinate, the northern district of Regensburg and also parts of the Kelheim district. Limits the south Altmühl and the Danube, in the west the Sulz, in the east that Naabtal the area.

• The highest point is the 652 m high Poppberg in the municipality of Birgland in the district of Amberg-Sulzbach

The Upper Palatinate Jura offers a multitude of caves, gorges, dry grass and karst rocks for those interested. The Danube breakthrough at Weltenburg is also very impressive. A paradise for hikers and cyclists in a rural setting with many opportunities to stop for a break.
