Hattstatt, at about 10 km South of Colmar, is a typical village of Alsace wine route, in the heart of the Alsatian vineyard.
Understand
The history of Hattstatt merges with that of Haut-Mundat of the prince-bishops of Strasbourg. For several centuries, Hattstatt was the center of an important seigneury. The village was fortified. Like the whole region, it suffered from the ravages of the Tent Years' War. There remain the remains of a gate, ramparts and ditches. Since the second half of the XXe century, Hattstatt confirms its character of village of the vineyard, in particular by the effort made as regards restoration of the picturesque houses.
The village of Hattstatt has a rich built heritage. It can be divided into two distinct parts: the pole formed by the Sainte-Colombe church and the castle of the Lords of Hattstatt, and the village itself.

- TheSainte-Colombe church: the lower part of the church dates from XIe century, the upper part, baroque, dates from 1772. The Romanesque apse has been replaced by a choir with cross ribs and buttresses in the XIVe century. The arrow dates from 1882. The current building is listed in the Supplementary Inventory of Historical Monuments.
- The wine trail can be visited all year round thanks to the explanatory panels.
- The Grand cru Hatschbourg constitutes a large part of the Hattstatt vineyard.
