Heiligenstein is a village of Bas-Rhin in Alsace.

Understand

The distant origin of the village, perched at 250 meters altitude between Barr and Obernai, still remains a mystery today. It will take its current name in 1460.

Located at the foot of Mont Saint-Odile[1], Heiligenstein is best known for its "Klevener", a unique grape variety in Alsace. Its wine vocation dates back to the 3rd century, in Roman times.

This flowery village enjoys an exceptional location for hikers. Starting point for many signposted circuits which will allow you to discover breathtaking views of the Rhine plain. The most courageous hikers can take the many trails of the Club Vosgien to visit, among others, the Landsberg castle, the pagan wall, the Mont Sainte-Odile ... Heiligenstein also offers a set of 9 fountains, including the Fontaine de the Bear (Monument classified or registered as historical monuments in France).
