Höhr-Grenzhausen is a small town on the southern Westerwald. It was founded in 1936 through the merger of the municipalities Listen, Grenzau and Grenzhausen educated. The city is also the seat of the association of the same name, to which the smaller towns belong Hilgert, Hillscheid and Kammerforst belong.

Höhr-Grenzhausen is in Kannenbäckerland. The name of the region goes back to a large clay deposit that was already used in the 15th century for the production of jugs and pots. Therefore Höhr-Grenzhausen is also called Kannenbäckerstadt known. In the neighboring village of Hilgert they had specialized in the manufacture of clay pipes, accordingly the craftsmen were considered to be Pipe baker.
