Isen is a market in Munich area and is in the upper Isental around 40 km east of the state capital Munich. It is the southernmost and, with more than 5,000 inhabitants, the sixth largest municipality in the Erding district.

Isen was first mentioned in a document in 747, the market survey in 1534 by Emperor Sigismund. History has left many traces in the parish church of St. Zeno - different styles have been preserved side by side.
Although the Isen market is already in the eastern catchment area of the city of Munich (approx. 30 km from the Munich-Riem exhibition center), it has retained its rural charm and amiability.
You will be surprised how much Isen Market has to offer. In addition to the existing structural facilities such as schools, adult education centers, kindergartens, children's playgrounds, Kneipp facilities, senior centers, church, social and societal facilities, our clubs offer a wide range of sporty, sociable and entertaining leisure activities. The location in the upper Isental is very scenic. There are many opportunities for hiking and cycling right outside the front door.

Tourist Attractions
- Catholic parish church of St. Zeno, the former collegiate church of the monastery of St. Zeno, is a three-aisled pillar basilica with a crypt and three apses. It was modeled on the Freising Domes Erected around 1200, the tower and the western vestibule date from the beginning of the 15th century. 1697–1701 and around 1730 the building was redesigned in Baroque style.
- Burgrain Castle: Keep in the 12./13. Built in the 17th century; from 1227 (until 1803) seat of the Freising carers, the Burgrain dominion belonging to the Freising monastery. Several renovations in the following centuries, St. Georg Castle Church. The castle is inhabited and is therefore not open to the public.
- Isen Local History Museum Opening times: every 2nd weekend of the month on Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Except for a short stretch of the main road (between Wimpasing and Lengdorf), this path only leads along smaller roads (cycle paths) along the Isen to Dorfen. Route: Start Isen, Adalbert-Stifer-Straße -> End Wimpasing -> Lengdorf -> Waidach - > Anning -> Oberdorfen -> Dorfen

Bonnets are the culinary specialty in the Upper Isental. It is a piquant lard biscuit, seasoned with caraway seeds, made from a yeast beer batter, mixed with wheat and rye flour. The Hauberlinge are served as a side dish to Saurem Lüngerl, game ragout or sauerkraut. They are offered in inns, bakeries and farmers' markets.
