Hohlohturm near Kaltenbronn

Kaltenbronn is a popular destination in the northern Black Forest. The high moors and the observation tower on the Hohloh are worth seeing. Thanks to its snow-sure location at an altitude of 900 m, the small settlement is also a regionally known winter sports area. Politically, Kaltenbronn belongs to Gernsbach, which lies in the Murg valley.

By plane

The nearest airport is the Karlsruhe Baden-Baden Airport, a good hour's drive to the west (significantly longer by public transport). But also that Stuttgart Airport, but above all the airport Frankfurt are easy to reach because of the good transport connections in the Rhine Valley.

By bus & train

The next train station near Kaltenbronn is Gernsbach im Murgtal. From here you can take the bus to the settlement on the heights. Hohlohturm

2  Kaiser Wilhelm Tower (Footpath from the Kaltenbronn car park: approx. 1.2 km easy). The Kaiser Wilhelm Tower, built in 1897 by the Black Forest Association, stands on the 984 m high Hohloh. In 1968 the originally only 24 m high structure was raised by 6 m. This had become necessary because of the tree growth. The tower is now completely free again, as storms have felled the forest. You can see Northern Black Forest With Murgtal, Vosges, Odenwald, as well as the Swabian Alb. Hohlohmoor

Game reserve

The enclosure, which has existed since 1958, shows red deer and stags or hinds.

Alpine skiing

In Kaltenbronn there are two tow lifts that open up a 600 m long descent with a 100 m height difference. The descent is quite snow reliable between 858 and 958 m above sea level. By the way, floodlit skiing is offered until 10 p.m.
