The valley is a region of Gaspesie to Quebec.
Understand
The region includes the Matapedia valley formed by the Chic-Chocs mountains. It is the only tourist region in the Gaspesie not having access to the sea.

The Valley is divided into two tourist sub-regions: La Matapédia and the Plateaux region.
Cities
- 1 Amqui – Chief town of MRC of La Matapédia, administrative and economic center of the Matapedia valley in the southwest of the peninsula. The town of Amqui has two covered bridges and is located near the regional parks of Val-d'Irène and Seigneurie-du-Lac-Matapédia. Member of the Federation of villages-relais du Québec.
- 2 Causapscal – Second largest city in La Vallée.
- 3 Matapedia – Located in the east of La Vallée, known for its salmon rivers.
- 4 Sayabec – Located in the West of La Vallée, the third largest city in La Vallée.

By car

From Montreal, Quebec, Wolf River Where Rimouski, take highway 20 east until it ends at Mont-Joli, then, continue on route 132 east in the direction ofAmqui. From Quebec, it is a journey of 5 h drive to reach Amqui.
Route 132 is also the region's access route from the south and east of the Gaspé. In addition, from New Brunswick, it is possible to cross directly at Matapedia to enter La Vallée or cross at Pointe-a-la-Croix and then take route 132 west to reach La Vallée.
From the north and northeast of the Gaspé, you have to get to Matane on route 132 and take route 195 which goes to Amqui. From Matane, it is a journey of1 h of road.
Circulate
Route 132 is the main road in the region. From Sayabec, it runs along Lake Matapedia, then, the Matapedia River.
