Laives

Laives(Italian: Laives) is a city with approx. 18,000 inhabitants, it is located in South Tyrolean lowlands and borders on the state capital Bolzano.

Laives was first mentioned in a document in 1237. In 1819 the place became an independent municipality. In 1985, Laives received city rights. The city center belongs to the city of Laives 1 Laives, the place 2 St. Jacob, the rural settlement 3 since as well as the place 4 Steinmannwald(Pineta di Laives), this place did not emerge until the 20th century and is mainly inhabited by Italians, whose ancestors moved here from the lower reaches of the Adige.

The 1 Bolzano airport is only separated from the St. Jakob district by the railway line, it is currently only used for charter traffic

The 2 Train station Laives is on the route of the Brennerbahn.

  • The A22Brenner motorway runs west past Laives, the next exit is Symbol: ASBolzano South, it is located directly on the St. Jakob district.
