Geographical notes
Lenola is located at the western end of the province of Latina, which is 68 km away, on the border with the province of Frosinone. It is located a few km from Funds along the State Road 637 which connects this center to Frosinone. Just along this road, near Km.36, until a few years ago it was possible to admire the stone cippus marking the border between the Papal State and the Kingdom of Naples of which Lenola represented the last bastion.
It is surrounded by Ausoni mountains which gradually rise until they reach considerable heights and widen, towards the south west, in the shape of a gorge, offering an enchanting scenery in the background, "a panorama the most beautiful in Italy"To use the words of King Vittorio Emanuele III: The mountains, the hills, the plain with the lake and part of the Fondi jump, the Tyrrhenian sea and the Pontine islands or Pontine.
When to go
Renowned for its "cool and dry" climate, it was the summer residence of the Bishops of Fondi. Even today in the summer months it is a favorite place for tourists and inhabitants of neighboring countries.
