Meßstetten is located in a sparsely populated region of the Swabian Alb on the Great Heuberg. Six formerly independent smaller communities and several hamlets belong to the city. Between Meßstetten and the south-west Stetten am kalten Markt is the Heuberg military training area. To the north of Meßstetten is the Albtrauf, where hiking trails lure with spectacular views.
