What see

Villa Borromeo - Cassano d'Adda
Archinto Palace - Robecco sul Naviglio
Castle of San Giorgio - Legnano
  • Villa Borromeo and Castello, Cassano d'Adda.
  • 1 Castle of San Giorgio, Legnano. Built starting from the 13th century on a previous convent of San Giorgio to which a small church is still dedicated today. Important are the frescoes and coffered ceilings of the main building.
  • Villa Gaia (Villa Borromeo Visconti Biglia Confalonieri Gandini), Robecco sul Naviglio. The building was built in the 15th century as an entertainment court for Ludovico il Moro. Later it became the summer residence of Federico Confalonieri. The building follows the layout of the castle or city palaces with a zenith axis of symmetry and buildings arranged to crown three slightly irregular courtyards. The façade towards the Naviglio, preceded by a rampart and a beautiful eighteenth-century balustrade, has pictorial decorations that recall illusory frames on the windows and doors; three wrought iron balconies frame the upper order. The main courtyard, arcaded on three sides, is adorned with frescoes from the sixteenth century. The interiors have furnishings and decorations from the Renaissance to the eighteenth century.
  • Archinto Palace, Robecco sul Naviglio. The construction began at the turn of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries on designs by Carlo Federico Pietrasanta: it must have been a complex of four large buildings, with a central core of five floors and four hooked side wings of the same height. Of all this remains today only the terminal block of one of the four wings, with the two crenellated towers, recently restored with a grandiose work that has brought the building back to an ancient splendor. Currently the building houses the municipal library and the local Naviglio Grande Museum.
  • Castle of the Borromeo counts, Peschiera Borromeo.

  • 2 Sforzesco Castle, Piazza Castello, 2. It was built in the 15th century by Francesco Sforza.
