Geographical notes
Chiasso is the southernmost municipality in the whole of Switzerland. The municipality has grown firmly together and can be described as the Swiss quarter of the nearby Italian city of Como.
When to go
Spring and summer.
Background
In 1127 - first known existence of an inhabited area, or rather of some nuclei of "cassine", when the place was a domain of Como. In 1140 - the place was called Claso. In 1416 - it became an autonomous municipality from ComoIn 1976 - the municipality became the southernmost in Switzerland when the municipality Pedrinate joined Chiasso, now known as the headquarters of a customs house, thanks to which Chiasso has also become an economic and financial center of considerable importance.

By car
The highway will certainly not necessarily be a good memory to motorists for the traffic jams that occur in the main holiday seasons.
- from the north, you leave the A2 on exit Chiasso-Center.
- from the south, you can leave the A9 already at Como Monte Olimpino because it is closer to the center.
On the train
All international trains between Basel via Lucerne and Zurich to Milan via the Gotthard pass through the Chiasso railway station. Some of the TILO regional trains are also cross-border.

- 2 Our Lady of Fatima, oratory of the Assumption (place of worship).
- Santa Croce, parish church (place of worship) (Pedrinate). Late Baroque style church, documented from 1599 and parish church from 1792.
- 3 Saint Teresa of the Child Jesus, parish church (Seseglio). Built in neoclassical style in 1844, it was consecrated in 1845; it underwent restorations in the years 1957 and 1995.
- 4 Santo Stefano al Colle, oratory church (place of worship) (Pedrinate). Built in late medieval style almost with certainty before 1000; it underwent heavy alterations over the centuries: the apse is Romanesque, while the portico is from the eighteenth century, a period to which the bell tower also dates back. Restored in 1956 and between 1986 and 1988 - during which archaeological research was also conducted on the site.
- 5 San Vitale, parish church (place of worship). Built in the 14th century.

- Carnival Free Republic of Nebiopoli (Nebiopoli Carnival). February. It is the only carnival in Ticino not to have a king, during the carnival week Chiasso becomes the "Free Republic of Nebiopoli" whose highest office is represented by the Prime Minister of Nebiopoli who officially receives the keys from the Mayor.
