Naples (in Italian Napoli, in Neapolitan Nàpule) - a city in the south Italy, the capital of the region Campaign and the administrative center of the Province of Naples.

Information

Naples was founded by the Greeks as Partenope and is one of the oldest cities in the world.

It is terraced over the Gulf of Naples, at the foot of Mount Vesuvius.

The population of Naples is close to 1 million (2004), and the city complex is over 3 million. It is the third most populous city in Italy.

In and around Naples, the inhabitants speak a specific Neapolitan dialect.

Naples is the main economic, cultural and scientific center of southern Italy. There is a university in Naples that was founded in 1224.

Naples International Airport (Aeroporto di Napoli-Capodichino, IATA: NAP) located 7 km from the city center. It is the largest airport in Campania and one of the largest in Italy. The only line with a direct connection to Naples from Poland is Wizzairthat flies from Katowice to Naples twice a week. Prices oscillate around PLN 250-300 in both directions.
