Nexø is the second largest city on Bornholm and is exactly opposite to the capital on the east coast of the island.

With around 3700 inhabitants, Nexø is the second largest city on Bornholm after Rønne. The place is located on the east coast of Bornholm and has the port with the largest fishing fleet on Bornholm. In the course of its history - the place has had city rights since 1346 - Nexø has suffered a number of destruction, both by war and by the forces of nature. On the last days of World War II, on May 7th and 8th, 1945, the city was bombed by Soviet fighter planes, with around 850 of the 900 houses in the place being badly damaged or destroyed. Nevertheless, in addition to the many new buildings, you can still find well-preserved or restored buildings from the earlier times of the small town.

By plane

Bornholm's only airport is in Rønne, Nexø can be reached via road 38 after about 26 kilometers.

By bus

All bus routes from BAT start from Rønne and end there again. Some bus routes serve the same route, but in the opposite direction.

In the street

From Bornholm's capital, Rønne, with its ferry port, Nexø can be reached after about 29 km via road 38.

To the north Svaneke can be reached via the coastal road 158 in just under 10 km.
