North Churches is a community in North Rhine-Westphalia and belongs to the Coesfeld district.
background
The first verifiable mention of northern church comes from a document from the diocese of Münster and is dated between 1022 and 1032. In 1703 the foundation stone for the construction of today's baroque moated castle was laid. The construction of Nordkirchen Castle lasted from 1708 to 1734. Between 1813 and 1815 the district was divided into cities, municipalities and offices. Thus the communities of Nordkirchen, Südkirchen and Capelle belonged to the office of Nordkirchen. A point of attraction is the largest moated castle in Westphalia, with a castle park, reconstructed Venus Island and an approx. 70 hectare garden. The numerous avenues with some mighty giant trees and the more than one hundred sculptures are of particular interest.

- RB 50 "The Lüner": Muenster - Amelsbüren - Davensberg - Ascheberg - Chapel - Werne - Luenen Central Station - Prussia - Do-Derne - Do-Kirchderne - Dortmund Main station, Mon-Fri every hour from early in the morning until shortly before midnight, Sat / Sun / Fe another night journey, but later in the morning, operator is the Eurobahn.

- The regional bus "R 53" runs every hour between the Capelle train station and the neighboring town Ludinghausen.

The baroque brick moated castle was built in 1734 for the powerful Prince-Bishop of Münster (who was deeply in debt after completion). It is nicknamed "Westphalian Versailles". The castle is surrounded by extensive gardens that were once among the most famous gardens in Europe. Nowadays, the spacious facility is used by the North Rhine-Westphalian University of Applied Sciences for Finance. Parts of the castle are accessible to visitors as part of guided tours.Open: The park is open daily all year round. Castle tours every full hour on Sundays and public holidays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (summer half-year) and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. (winter half-year).Price: admission 3 €, children 6–14 years 1 €; Free entry to the park.
