Oberaula is a place and a municipality in North Hesse and lies in Knüllgebirge. Further districts are 1 Hausen,2 Friedigerode,3 Ibra,4 Olberode and 5 Electoral houses

The climatic health resort of Oberaula was mentioned as early as 856. Before the reunification of Germany, the small town was a popular destination for West Berliners who were looking for relaxation in the countryside. Today one tries to attract wealthy tourists to the town with a golf course, a good hotel with an indoor swimming pool, holiday homes and good medical care. But there are also inexpensive accommodations that are suitable for smaller purses.

- Oberaula village church. The tower was built in the 15th century, the nave in the 18th century.

The renaissance castle was built in 1687 on the foundation walls of a moated castle. It's privately owned.
