Oberwiesenthal, the most important winter sports resort in Ore Mountains, lies at the foot of the Fichtelberg. Oberwiesenthal is 914 meters above sea level. NN the highest city in Germany. In the first half of the last century, the place confidently called itself "Saxon St. Moritz", and Oberwiesenthal was the undisputed number one winter sports destination in the GDR.

By train

With the regional train (DB Erzgebirgsbahn) to Cran number and there change to the Fichtelbergbahn (SDG Saxon Steam Railway Company) to Oberwiesenthal (duration from Chemnitz approx. 2.5 hours).
