Karlovy Vary, "Karlsbad", spoken: karlowi wari, IPA: [ˈkarlɔvɪ ˈvarɪ] is a world-famous spa town and lies in the narrow, almost romantic valley of the Teplá River, surrounded by forest-rimmed mountains, near its confluence with the Ohře, on the southern edge of the Ore Mountains.

From direction Chemnitz you drive on the trunk road B95 to the border crossing Oberwiesenthal and then over Jáchymov on the E 442. Who from Francs comes, uses the B303 through the Fichtel Mountains to the Schirnding border crossing. Then it's pretty straightforward - partly on motorways - to Karlovy Vary. Of Plauen in the Vogtland one drives over again Schöneck to the border crossing Klingenthal and on road 210 on the R6 (toll sticker required).

From various vantage points beyond the city one can see the golden towers of the Russian Orthodox Church 1 St. Peter and Paul detect. - The Karlovy Vary wafers are known beyond the city and state borders. These are traditionally baked from two round, thin wafers and a filling in the middle. Meanwhile, vanilla, nut and chocolate fillings are no longer the only ones made. A long time ago there were bakery shops and stalls in several places in the village and the delicious smell attracted visitors from afar. Today you can only get warm wafers in the T. G. Masaryka, near the Billa supermarket.
