Music and discos

If you are looking for entertainment that locals hang out with, Royal City Avenue and Ratchadaphisek Road are interesting places to hang out at night. The clubs are huge with great visual effects. Having fun here is different from other tourist places. Instead of 40-year-old tourists, one would expect to meet local 20-year-old university students. They order drinks by the bottle instead of by the glass and the locals dance while standing at their table, not on the dance floor. Always bring a document to be checked at the entrance.

Royal City Avenue (RCA)

Royal City Avenue, typically referred to as RCA it is a famous and fashionable street open only to pedestrians which has seen difficult times. By 2002 the whole street was pretty dead, known as a place where minors took refuge for their alcoholic needs. It had a reputation for having bad services and long queues at the toilets. After a major social campaign, document control was introduced and only those over 20 years old were allowed to enter.

RCA is now back in fashion with Thailand's biggest nightclubs, many of which have been refurbished with beautiful decor and special effects. To improve the image, a lot of effort went into the design of the bathrooms. It is said that Route 66 has the most beautiful bathrooms in the world; there are also magazine racks in case you like to take your time and make-up rooms for the ladies.

You don't see many Westerners even if you are welcome.
