The Route of industrial culture by bike is a network of bike paths with a total length of about 700 km, with which the sights of the Industrial Heritage Route for cyclists.

The two long-distance cycle paths form the core of the cycle path network Emscher Park bike path (225 km long, inside the Ruhr area) and Round course in the Ruhr area (350 km long, on the outer edge of the Ruhr area), the latter runs in the south for long stretches identical to the Ruhr valley cycle path. The long-distance cycle paths are supplemented by signposted connecting routes, the so-called R-ways (e.g. R10, R27, R31), which are remnants of the predecessor of the Radroutennetz.NRW.
