Rymanów-Zdrój was created in 1872 as a spa port by Anna and Stanisław Potocki. The medicinal water has been promoted since the 1870s and the spa facilities and the spa park were built at the same time. At the turn of the century before last, Archduke Albrecht von Habsburg, the uncle of the penultimate emperor of the Imperial and Royal Monarchy, and Stanisław Wyspiański, the most important poet and painter of Art Nouveau in Poland, were guests here. During the First World War, the Russian-Austrian front passed three times through the place, which was largely destroyed by the Russian occupiers. The spa was rebuilt after the war and resumed operations in 1926. During the Second World War, the spa was initially closed, only to be reopened to the Nazi elite in 1943. Emmy Göring, the wife of the Commander-in-Chief of the Air Force, took a cure here. At the end of the war the health resort was destroyed again. In the late 1940s, however, the spa business was resumed.
