Bagpipe - Sackpfeife

The Bagpipe is a 674 m high mountain in the southeastern foothills of the Rothaargebirge at Biedenkopf in Hessen. The mountain can be seen from afar through the transmission tower.

The observation tower and the leisure center on the mountain invite you to visit in both summer and winter.

getting there

By train

The next train station is Biedenkopf (accessible from Marburg or Erndtebrück). Intercity trains and regional express trains on the Kassel - Frankfurt line stop in Marburg.

The mountain can be reached in a day's hike from the train station in Biedenkopf.

In the street

Of the A small asphalt road branches off up the mountain between Hatzfeld-Eifa and Biedenkopf. This leads to the leisure center at a height of about 640 m.

mobility

From the parking lot you walk on gravel roads for about 500 m to the actual mountain peak with the observation tower. Cyclists can easily drive up to the tower.

From the roofed viewing platform of the tower the view extends far into the Rothaargebirge, the Burgwald, the Lahn-Dill-Bergland and the Kellerwald). With good visibility you can also do that Westerwald, the Taunus with the Great Feldberg and the Vogelsberg detect. When visibility is very good, even the south is in the very south Melibocus in the Odenwald to make out. For those who are not familiar with the area, the platform has a labeled panorama board ready.

There is a summer toboggan run (the ascent is done with the chairlift).

Sensory path

The 300 m long barefoot path begins at the large car park. You can feel different soils at 14 stations. At the end of the freely accessible path there is a washing facility for your feet.

Winter sports

At the bagpipe there is a 440 m long double chairlift and a 440 m long drag lift. The small ski area is at an altitude of 580 - 650 m. Two circular trails are also groomed in the summit area. There is also a toboggan slope.

• The Mountain hut bagpipe offers motorcyclists a meeting place for bikers and is located next to the toboggan run and ski slope.
• The Lahn-Eder hut The local group Biedenkopf of the Upper Hessian Mountain Association (OHGV) next to the observation tower is open on Sundays.
