If you enter or leave the country by a land border, there is no tax, neither on entry nor on exit.

All Salvadorans speak Spanish. Salvadoran Spanish does not use you but only the usted and the your disappeared in Castilian Spanish. There are also a lot of local words often original nahuatl (said nahuatismos) : Sepcti in nahuatl gave cipote which will be used instead of niño to say "child".
THE'English is really spoken only by a small part of the population, despite the campaigns to promote it. French is spoken even less there.

Housing
Hotels are generally inexpensive, between 5 and 8 US $ for one or two people. Camping is not recommended, as the country is not yet very safe. However, it is possible (and very pleasant) to sleep in a hammock on the beach in furnished places - ask the locals whether it is safe or not.

El Salvador does not have the best reputation when it comes to security. After suffering an almost 10-year civil war in the 1980s, El Salvador now faces 'gang' problems. To be able to travel in peace, you must avoid going to neighborhoods known to be dangerous, for example San Salvador or Sonsonate, avoid traveling at night, and never show your money or jewelry.
In the event of an attempted theft, the best protection is not to resist.
