The closest airport is in Salzburg and about 90 km away via the A10 Tauern motorway. The airport in Vienna is about three hundred kilometers away, the Munich Airport approx. 260 kilometers.

Schladming is the station at the Ennstalbahn and stop for express trains on the route Salzburg - Bischofshofen - Schladming - Selzthal - Bruck - Graz.

  • 1  City Museum Schladming (Brother shop house), Talbachgasse 110, 8970 Schladming. The focus of the museum is on mining in the Schladming region, the Ehrlich collection of the museum is a collection of minerals, rocks and fossils. The museum building was built in 1661 as a mining social facility in what was then the industrial quarter of the city.

Schladming is the center of the Dachstein-Tauern hiking area. From here a variety of hikes in the surrounding mountains (Niedere Tauern, Dachstein massif) can be undertaken. The region is also very popular with mountain bikers. The network of hiking trails has an approximate length of 500 km. In addition, hiking through the Bromriesen silver mining tunnels is possible in all weathers.[1]

The mountain town of Schladming is one of the largest winter sports resorts in Austria and the center of the Schladming-Dachstein region. Schladming's local mountain, the Planai, is accessed by numerous gondola lifts and chair lifts. The Schladming four-mountain ski area names four interconnected ski mountains (Hauser Kaibling, Planai, Hochwurzen, Reiteralm) that guarantee (almost) unlimited skiing pleasure.
